Welcome to the first AUTObiography feature on tripleZoom.

A/bs are designed to highlight the relationship between an owner and his or her automobile. We're not just looking for the wildest, most highly modified cars out there - we're simply looking for people who love their Mazdas and have a good story to tell. If you think this describes you, please send us your submission, along with some good quality photos of your car. Please note that the more interesting/detailed your answers are to our questions, and the better and more varied your photos, the greater your chances will be to see your story on tripleZoom. The A/b form and submission info can be found HERE.

Until we get more submissions, A/bs will appear on tripleZoom once a month, but if quality stories start rolling in, we promise to run them more often.

This month's tripleZoom A/b feature is Phil Pugliese

Q: How long have you owned this car?

A: I've had it for a bit more than 18 months.

Q: Is there anything unique about the history of this car?

A: This is my 5th Miata - I had the intention of the 10AE-1AB from the start.

Q: What other cars did you consider?

A: I considered a 2001 British Racing Green version.

Q: What was your objective with this car?

A: To make my own “Special Edition” staying within OEM parameters.

Q: Who helped you build this car?

A: Fellow Miata.net-ers, Eric Derr and Tom Brehnholtz.

Q: What makes your car special?

A: 1/1 is the series.

Q: What is your favorite part/feature/function?

A: The Silver/Blue combination.

Q: Who or what inspired the direction of modifications on this car?

A: I wanted a car that would make even the most devoted Miataphile do a double take.

Q: What don't you like about this car?

A: I would like a cloth top.

Q: What was your biggest obstacle in building this car?

A: Nothing - in fact everything fell together as if it was meant to be.

Q: What would you change if you could?

A: I'd like to add the lights and bumper from an '02 model.

Q: On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with the outcome of this project?

A: 10+.

Q: What would you do to the car if money were no object?

A: BRP Coldside Supercharger & ACT clutch.

Q: Who has been your biggest critic of this project?

A: Peg, from Maita.net. She owns a 10AE and despises the fact I have a 10AE badge on my car.

Q: What do your family and friends say about this car?

A: They all love it and say it’s the nicest of all the Miatas I have owned.

Q: What is your most memorable/humorous/embarrassing moment with this car?

A: A fluke day where 3 different people at 3 different locations on the same day came up to me and asked me, “Are you Phil Pugliese? I have seen this car on Maita.net and loved it.” It was a real ego boost.

Q: Has this car competed in any events?

A: Auto-x.

Q: Results?

A: Miata.net MOTM http://www.miata.net/motm/2003/Pugliese.html

Q: What is your favorite place to drive this car?

A: Deals Gap.

Q: What is your ideal day with this car?

A: A bluebird top-down day with my wife as my co-pilot through the hills of North Carolina

Q: Who gets to drive this car?

A: Anyone who wants to.

Q: If your car had a motto, what would it be?

A: “Whenever you can… OEM.”

Q: If you had to name your car, what would you name it?

A: Ghost.

Q: What was your previous project?

A: 96M Miata, Fuente (www.cardomain.com/id/fuente).

Q: What is your next project?

A: At this point, I'm not sure.

Q: What one word best describes your car?

A: Classic.

Q: Other info you’d like to share?

A: I usually keep a car no longer than 6 months or so - I am going on 3x that with Ghost and I still have no plans for replacing him.
