SCCA Pro Racing, Ltd. has announced the 2005 SCCA Pro Racing Mazdaspeed Miata Cup Presented by Hankook schedule.
By teaming up on weekends with several hot series including SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge, Formula Drift, American Le Mans, Indy Racing League IndyCar and Grand American, 2005 promises to be one of the best years ever in Miata Cup history.
“The Mazdaspeed Miata Cup is one of today’s fastest forms of racing in terms of growth,” said SCCA Pro Racing Vice President Mitch Wright. “With that being the case, we want to ensure that our drivers have ample opportunity to compete in high-quality events. The 2005 Miata Cup schedule accomplishes that goal.”
Fifteen events over eight weekends make up the season’s tilt, with the first of three Pacific Tour competitions beginning April 30 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif., along with Grand-Am action. The Atlantic Tour hosts four race weekends and starts its year May 7 in Braselton, Ga., in conjunction with the Formula Drift event at Road Atlanta.
All dates are doubleheader race weekends except for the North American Championship, part of the ALMS Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta Sept. 29-30. Qualifying criteria for the Finale, which will showcase the best drivers from both the Atlantic and Pacific Tours, will be announced at a later date.
